Don’t let your Christmas tree go into the trash! Recycle it–here’s how, when, and where

Bella Scott • Jan 02, 2015

Trees left curbside will NOT be recycled;  however,  the city is providing 23 locations where you can drop your tree off for free treecycling on Saturday, January 10 and January 17 from 9 am to 3 pm.   Bella Vistans can drop off trees closest at Broad and Christian.  A list of locations and more information can be found via the link below:

DROP-OFF LOCATIONS ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 10

  1. South Philly Civics Tree-Cycling event at Columbus Square Park, corner of 13th St. and Reed St. Drop-offs are from 10 am to 4 pm.  The chips from your recycled trees will be used for mulch at local parks and gardens.   Suggested donation of $5/tree.
  2. Greenlimbs Treecycling in front of the Whole Foods on 10th & South (10 am-4 pm) (with a collection site at Weccacoe Playground 10 am-1 pm). Trees must be free of all decorations. Mulch from chipped trees will be re-distributed throughout the city. Suggested donation is $5/tree. For more information, or to volunteer, email  treecycling@ null greenlimbs.com.

 PICK-UP

Bennett Compost will pick your tree up curbside on one of three upcoming weekends (1/3/15, 1/10/15 or 1/17/15) and take it to the South Philly Treecyclers for $15, $5 of which will be going to South Philly Civics.  If you are interested in this option, click on the following link  http://www.bennettcompost.com/pages/tree
