Programming & Events

The goal of the Programming and Events committee is to produce bi-monthly general meetings anchored around a rotating set of themes and topics of interest to members, in keeping with our core mission of connecting neighbors with city services and facilitating a public forum.

The committee seeks to identify content that is timely and relevant, then secure speakers and handle facilities, arrangements, event promotion, and day-of responsibilities of setup, breakdown, sign-in, A/V, and introducing the speakers or moderating the panel.

In the past, special guests have included various city and state elected officials, as well as representatives from the PWD, PGW, PPA, OPA, Dept of Revenue, Fire Department, OTIS/Transportation, Streets, L&I, OSHA, School District / Principals, Italian Market district, South Street Headhouse District, and other local community partner groups.

This committee also produces special events such as weatherization workshops, home and garden tours showcasing area homes, pumpkin painting and carving, treecycling, Red Cross blood drive, CPR/EAD workshops, 311 safety walks, and partners with the safety committee on National Night Out.

Finally, the group may also produce general social and community building events such as the Bella Vista night at the Phillies, holiday cookie swaps, bowling, and meetups at area parks, bars and restaurants.
