The Charles Santore Library is a branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia that serves the South Philadelphia communities of Bella Vista, Queen Village, and Hawthorne.

The Library has a large collection of adult, young adult, and children’s books, books on tape, DVDs, videos, magazines, and CDs as well as free Internet and computer access.

Ongoing Library programs include a Pre-School Story Time (for children ages five and younger accompanied by an adult) and a PJs-allowed Bedtime Story Time (For children ages six and younger accompanied by an adult). Other Library programming has included Smoking Cessation workshops, GED and ESL classes, Tai Chi and Family Fun events.

The Friends of the Charles Santore Library, a division of the Friends of the Free Library of Philadelphia, Inc., is an active group of individuals from the community who strive to assist the Charles Santore Library.

Each month the Friends of the Charles Santore Library meet to discuss the Library’s needs and to plan upcoming initiatives that align with the goals of the Library. As a nonprofit organization, it raises funds, promotes the Library’s services to the community, and advocates on behalf of the Charles Santore Library to government institutions.
